Hi, I'm Amy. This is my story to Muse Her.
I have never considered myself a creative person. I favour productivity over beauty. I'm type A, process-driven, action-oriented. I never thought I liked art, because I thought I had to understand it.
I was wrong. I had to feel it.
Somewhere between career, babies, being a wife and a friend, and all the different roles, I started to feel an ache for something more. And when I actually sat with it, I realised the more was really about acknowledging and feeling the beauty in the life I had created, putting myself front and centre of it, embracing it, and enjoying it.
I'm a professional conference and event manager, fifteen years of making memories for other people. I see things before anyone else notices. I understand and anticipate what everyone needs before they even think it.
I've run events for ten people and events for thousands. I've seen, up close, what people are actually yearning for in a room, professional or personal.
I've seen events hit the mark and leave people transformed. I've seen people walk out confused, worse off for having come at all.
When the ache to create started pulling at me hard enough, I knew exactly what I needed to do: curate the event I wish existed for me, built with the experts I already call friends and mentors.
Across fifteen years, the events with the most engagement, the most genuine transformation, the most enjoyment, were never the biggest. They were the intimate ones: retreats, workshops, small community catch-ups. What set them apart was intimacy. They were built person-first, content second.
Everything I've learned running rooms like that is what's going into Muse Her.
If you know, you know. I'm coming out of the haze of postpartum for the third time (I have three beautiful boys). I've run a business successfully for eight years while managing our big life. I run on no sleep and copious amounts of caffeine.
Over the last few years, I haven't felt the space between the edges of my roles and me. That was by design: I was growing our family. But now, I'm craving that sense of self. I'm reaching toward the ambitious and creative woman I know I am at heart.
I can see now that I'm finally the person I needed to be to build this. For myself, and for you, her, us.
Muse Her. has been ruminating in me for years. She shows up in peaks, always as a creative direction I can't ignore. I write poetry when she's there. I've moved countries. I've started business ventures. I've knitted blankets. I've hiked 96 km. I've made new friends when she takes the reins.
Muse Her. takes hold, and when I'm in the mindset to accept her, we do beautiful things together.
She's been quiet lately.
I'm ready now to unmute her.
